So sorry for leaving you guys hangin' for so long, we have had a lot of things going on in the shop. The new Cardinal Acedia's came in, so we've been building those up and getting those out the door. We got some new carbon clinchers in, and they are lookin' pretty on point. Basically a carbon DP18(39mm deep), Joe's putting them on the new red Cardinal; which is looking fierce as hell by the way. People are probably gonna drop when they see this build, it looks like a weapon. Photos on that coming soon though.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy NYE. I know many people went out and attended several different parties and visited several local hot spots. Our evening was spent at home with our two dogs. This set the tone for a quiet and restful time off rather than something I needed to recover from. We did however, enjoy brunch at the Omni on New Years Day. It nice being able to sit and enjoy a great meal as everyone else was hurrying around trying to check out of the hotel. I highly recommend this brunch. The price is decent and the quality of the food outstanding. As you can see (right below this post) we are bringing on a new frame platform for 2011. This is a peeker of the new TT/Tri frame. Super aero...super stiff. I'll post a pic when finished and the owner has seen it...So, I hope everyone is taking advantage of this nice weather and getting on their bikes or getting time inside. A new year signals its time for strong winter training habits to begin with a healthy diet to match. We will have some information soon regarding indoor roller rides and Cardinal Bicycle Co racing team updates.

What is a Cardinal Bicycle site without a picture of the bikes? Incomplete. It is still hard for me to express in words what I feel when I see a Cardinal Bicycle, much less ride one. The models pictured here: Envy and Wrath CX represent where we are currently in our development as a company. It's no secret, this project has taken a huge amount of time. Partly, to the detriment of Joe's Cycles, riding my bicycle, and family. Sometimes I lose track of the fact we are a fully functional bicycle shop as well as a bicycle company. To me this has become my normal existence. I guess at times such as now and with the new year approaching, this is the cliche time for reflection. Thankfully, all of that time and hard work paid off in the production of several models and an exercise in futility was not realized. However, honestly... I had grown accustomed to seeing the Cardinals in the shop. Walking by them daily as if to say: "yea, your here...of coarse you are". Recently though things have changed. Initial reflection has lead to deeper introspection. These bicycles represent a culmination of countless relationships both past and present. I want to express a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in this venture. A new year is approaching and with it changes. Some I welcome, some are met with lamentation. One thing is certain though, I am more focused now than ever and I am no longer working on the "overload principle". This new year will be much more calculated to grow on the base we have built over the past 3 years of shop ownership. Big changes are on the horizon here in Indianapolis regarding the bicycle culture. Fakes, haters, scene jumpers, ankle biters, ego manics, coat-tail riders, yo eddies, politicians, posers, stoners, roadies, hippies, hipsters, yipsters you are all welcome as far as I am concerned. I've seen all of them through the eyes of a bike shop over the last 23 years. If bicycle riding is the next best thing...SO BE IT! It's about time. Cardinal Bicycle Co./Joe's Cycles is our name, Fountain Square is our home. Come fly with us! Merry Christmas.

No matter how many wheels we build, I still get excited at this step. Once the hub is "loaded", spokes have checked out/been lubed, it is time to select the first spoke. Picked specifically (to ensure all my labels line up ;), we are off and running. Check the spec: XT hub, DT TK series rim, DT 2.0 spokes, brass nips...you guessed it...its going to be a strong one! 100 KGF, here I come!

Our good friend Larry came in today to pickup a new 2011 Schwinn Willy. He is a very talented photographer and was kind enough to shoot the photos for Cardinal. He and his wife Mab (mabgraves.com) are very talented artists and call Fountain Square home. The wealth of talent in Fountain Square is pretty damn amazing. People willing to buy buildings, fix buildings, live in buildings, and change neighborhoods for the better. It's good stuff.

I thought it interesting to lend a brief statement as to why now. Why, after so many years would we open our thoughts to the interwebz (Die Antwoord)? Eventually, I would like to sell things on this site (imagine that) a "retailer" interested in peddling his wares. First and foremost though, there is some seriously funny stuff that happens around here and it must be shared. Honestly, I don't believe you can laugh enough in one day and this is an attempt to add humor to a sometimes fateful existence. We have come up with a few things that should add plenty of material to post. Some obvious, some not. Bike of the day, quote of the day, dumb ass of the day...etc. you get the point, will keep this blog fresh and ever changing. Fountain Square is our home and we aim to present it (mostly) unfiltered. So, off we go and I hope you enjoy (or at least have an opinion).
